– is a tool for checking texts for hate speech markers – inappropriate vocabulary referring to socially vulnerable groups.
Previously, there were glossaries compiled by organisations working with vulnerable groups. But going through dictionaries is time-consuming and inconvenient. We automated the process: J4T-checker will detect inappropriate words in the text and suggest alternatives with explanations.
At the moment, the service supports Belarusian, Ukrainian, and Russian languages.
Vocabulary base
When creating the database of inappropriate vocabulary, we did not include many obviously offensive words.
J4T-checker does not provide a comprehensive check for hate speech. The service only analyses text for inappropriate vocabulary without taking the context into account. Hate speech is a more complex concept.
